TACCI held its first annual gala event at the Marriott Hotel in Saddle Brook, New Jersey. Members and non-members enjoyed a night of live music and supported the Chamber with their presence.
Trade Missions
TACCI Delegation lead by President Merç visited Washington D.C. and met with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce representatives to discuss possible areas of cooperation and future joint events.
A TACCI delegation lead by President Merç visited Chicago together with a trade delegation from Turkey lead by Minister of Foreign Trade Kürşad Tüzmen. Possible investment and business opportunities were discussed and TACCI established strong relations with the local Turkish-American businesspersons.
TACCI Delegation visited Madison, Indiana and met with the Governor to discuss possible investment opportunities for Turkish businessmen. Upon the invitation received from Mayor Albert G. Huntington of Madison, Indiana, TACCI visited Madison on August 10th and 11th and explored the investment opportunities that are available in the region.
Dinners/Luncheons/Receptions
In this exclusive dinner event, H.E. Kemal Derviş, Administrator of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) informed TACCI Members about "Convergence and Divergence in World Economy" at the Harvard Club in Manhattan.
In this informative meeting TACCI Board Members had a chance to talk about Turkey-U.S economic relations with Congressman Robert Wexler. The main topic was "Generalized Preferences System" and how this system would be continued in favor of Turkey.
TACCI organized this luncheon event at the Yale Club of New York to host Hon. Ross Wilson, the U.S Ambassador to Turkey, and to share his views on Turkey and its future.
Networking Activities
TACCI Represented Turkish-American businesspersons at the in the World Convention of Turkish Businessmen held in Istanbul, Turkey. TACCI delegates was lead by President Mustafa Merç and informed business people from around the world about TACCI's services and activities. President Merç gave the opening speech on behalf of Turkish-American investors and businesspersons at the convention.
The reception was held under the auspices of the Consul General of Turkey, Hon. Ömer Önhon and gave TACCI members an opportunity to meet with Mr. Zafer Çağlayan. The event also enhanced the cooperation between TACCI and TOBB.
TACCI members held a welcoming reception for Mr. Murat Yalçıntaş, President of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce under the auspices of the Consul General of Turkey, Hon. Ömer Önhon at the Turkish Center. Mr. Yalçıntaş was informed about TACCI's current services and activities.
Meetings/Roundtable Discussions
TACCI board members met with the delegation from Konya to discuss the topic: "The Business opportunities in Konya." The delegation provided information on Konya's trade environment and the possibilities of improving the economic cooperation between Turkey and the U.S.
Mr. Oz Bengur, Democratic candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives in Maryland's 3rd Congressional District participated in a question and answer session with TACCI members. Mr. Bengur is the first Turkish-American candidate for Congress.
Other Events
A group of TACCI Members lead by President Merç participated in a trade campaign organized by TOBB with the assistance of TACCI and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to increase awareness on the U.S. markets in Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Kayseri and Gaziantep.
